Sixth Formers Win Bear Contract

A group of sixth form pupils making teddy bears as part of a Young Enterprise competition has won a contract with a national company.

Bear Accessories was set up last year by students at Weston Sixth Form College in Somerset.

The firm customises teddy bears and makes clothing for the toys.

Now a giftware company - which wants to remain anonymous - has asked the teenagers to make more than 500 bears a month.

Jayne Butler, link teacher for the Young Enterprise scheme said: "It will be a huge decision for the students to take on such a huge contract.

"They are considering making Bear Accessories a 'real' working company outside of their Young Enterprise experience and becoming local employers.

"Running the business may even help them save up for university."
