Doing It For The Kids<\/a> is a current exhibition put on by [re] design to showcase the latest, most innovative sustainable toy concepts from around the world.<\/p>\n

Designer Alex Green has come up with something that will certainly have some staring while many others won’t bear to look.<\/p>\n

Twin Teddy Kit<\/h3>\n

Green has put together the Twin Teddy Kit<\/em> or what is being referred to as the Placenta Teddy Bear<\/em> – an eco-alternative for those who don’t want to eat their baby’s placenta, but want to pay their respects to the life sustaining organ by turning it into a unique teddy bear.<\/p>\n

The Twin Teddy Kit “celebrates the unity of the infant, the mother and the placenta,” and enables preparation of the placenta so it may be transformed into a teddy bear.<\/p>\n

How do you make a placenta teddy bear?<\/h3>\n

The placenta is cut in half then rubbed with sea salt to cure it. After it has dried out, it is treated with tannin and egg yoke, an emulsifying mixture that makes it soft and pliable. Then, you shape it into a teddy bear!<\/p>\n

The Placenta Teddy Bear is intended to be a keepsake as it can’t be cuddled once inside its glass jar.<\/p>\n
